The Nova Paint Club, which has 11 member companies operating in more than 80 countries, held a meeting of its operations directors in Bucharest, Romania on  July 16-18, 2013. It was the first time that Nova has met in Romania as it continues to extend its global reach. The meeting was hosted by Druckfarben’s president and Nova executive board member, George Caravasilis.

The 19 delegates from 10  Nova member companies discussed issues vital to the industry, including new manufacturing techniques, innovative ways to handle equipment and important benchmarking and safety matters. The meeting included a visit to Druckfarben-Romania’s new plant, manufacturing water and solvent based paints and inks.

The delegates agreed to work together on a range of projects designed to reduce their costs and to exchange information on equipment testing and purchases, energy saving initiatives and new regulations. They also saw presentations from key suppliers to the global paint industry.

Michael Dayan, Nova president and CEO of Israeli paint company Tambour thanked Druckfarben’s employees and said: “Our focus in Nova is on getting real value for all of our members. Bringing together so many delegates from around the world means we can continue to benefit from sharing ideas, innovations and experiences.”

The meeting also gave Nova members a chance to meet Stephen Falder, the incoming Nova secretary general. Falder is replacing Peter Lovell in May 2014. Lovell is retiring after more than 20 years’ service to the Nova Paint Club.

The next board meeting of the Nova Paint Club will be hosted by Barnices Valentine in October 2013 in Madrid, Spain. It will be held alongside a meeting of Nova’s technical directors.
